Projetos Pessoais #1: Feel Good Hit of the Summer

Staff Picks / posted by in 18 Apr of 2011

Good music, well done illustrations and a quite inspired designer seem the perfect formula for a unique animation. As we always want more, to spicy this recipe we add a dash of polemics and voilà! Success. More or less in this way that in 2009 the Graduation Project of our art director, Pedro Corrêa, was developed.

The theme of the final work was free of choice. Pedro chose nothing more, nothing less, than the Queens of the Stone Age‘s song “Feel Good Hit Of The Summer”.  The video has no connection with the record label or the band itself, is just a fan work . “The lyrics talk about 7 drugs and I wanted to illustrate the effects of each, but a teacher stood up in the middle of presentation saying that it wasn’t appropriate in a college”, laughs the illustrator, encouraged by others.

To not create big problems, the idea was explored in a way that shows the experiences of those who use focusing on paranoia. “I wanted to retract the transformation, when a sober person suddenly gets crazy. A person changes, body changes, the mind, the ideas, the perception of the world. So I used cocoons / maggot / moth to illustrate the metaphor “

Even taking care and not using any images that referred directly to drugs, such as needles and syringes, the dense music and riff repetition  in association with good animation work, worth watching. “At the climax with the triangle, you can feel that” said João, a friend of the illustrator.

Hey, Josh, it’s hot!
